Defra has just published the new, improved rates for payments under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) following its most recent review.

For schemes agreed before 01 January 2022, where the new rate is lower than the existing rate, the latter will be honoured; where the new rate is higher than the one agreed already, the new higher rate will be paid.

The new revenue rates will apply to all new scheme agreements from 01 January 2023.

Defra has published a full table of the comparable rates and this is available to view/print here.
