Meet the Shouler & Son Partners
Simon Allam FRICS FAAV FLAA
Senior Partner
How long have you been with Shouler & Son?
I joined the firm in 1976, when I took my RICS. I became a partner in the late 1980s, and a senior partner in June 2021.
What’s the best part of your job?
I really enjoy liaising with the variety of clients that come to us at Shouler, and helping them with the strategic planning of their property portfolio and estate.
What do you enjoy doing at the weekend?
If I’m not at home gardening or watching sport I’ll be spending time at my holiday cottage in Norfolk.
Ben Shouler ALAA
Managing Partner
How long have you been with Shouler & Son?
I have been part of my family’s business since the age of 14, when I was allowed to earn a shilling or two helping out in the auction room during school holidays.
I obtained a Btec National Diploma in Business & Finance from Brooksby College and an Honours Degree in Rural Estate Management from Seale Hayne Agricultural College. I then joined the company in 2000, rising to full partner in 2009.
What’s the best part of your job?
The work we do here is in my blood, and I love what I do. I’ve been an auctioneer at Melton Mowbray Market for over 16 years, and I now head the stores and reared cattle sections.
What do you enjoy doing at the weekend?
As a keen sportsman, I regularly turn out for Melton Rugby Club. I also play weekly indoor football, and try to get a round of golf in when I can. A huge passion of mine is vintage cars, and I’m a member of several sportscar clubs. My dream is to find an old vintage car in a farmer’s barn, so if you have one give me a call!
Harry Baines BSc MRICS
Partner
How long have you been with Shouler & Son?
Just over six years.
What’s the best part of your job?
Helping clients with complex strategic work and then implementing a plan.
What do you enjoy doing at the weekend?
I’m often found tinkering with Land Rovers and other machines in my workshop. When I’m not doing that, I love spending time with my family, playing hockey, farming and hedge laying.
Robert Bloomfield MRICS
Partner
How long have you been with Shouler & Son?
I come from a farming family in Suffolk, and joined Shouler & Son in September 2019.
What’s the best part of your job?
I have almost 20 years’ experience in estate management, farm agency and general professional practice. It’s very satisfying to pass that knowledge on and help our clients across the East Midlands
What do you enjoy doing at the weekend?
When I’m not at work, I like following the local beagle pack, tending to my bees, and renovating houses and Land Rovers. If I do say so myself, I’m a good cook and my Jack Russell terrier is never far behind me.
