About Shouler & Son
Auctioneers, Valuers, Land & Estate Agents with 170 years experience
An uncertain future for the farming industry in the 1840s, with mechanisation beginning to change old practices, was the climate in which William Shouler, then aged 21, announced that he was setting up business as Auctioneer and Appraiser in Woburn Sands. Three years later he left the area and established himself in his wife's home town of Melton Mowbray.
His great great great grandson Ben Shouler has been a partner since 2008 and today his duties include management of new and established clients as well as auctioneering and valuing of all effects that pass through the firms Auction Room in Melton Mowbray.
Working from Melton Mowbray & Stoke Rochford, the partners & staff each work in a particular field of expertise whilst retaining a wide general knowledge across the profession.
"Because of changes in function of my company I needed to sell an industrial property and move into new offices. After considering a couple of Estate Agents I was pleased to engage Shoulers to act on my behalf. They acted with speed and efficiency and I was delighted that the property sold within days and at a very acceptable price. I would recommend them and in particular Helen Montague unreservedly."
