The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has published its latest quarterly UK commercial property market survey covering the final three months of last year (2021).

Commenting on the RICS survey, Helen Vesper-Smith, commercial partner, Shouler & Son, said, “We continue to experience exceptionally high demand across the industrial sector for both freehold and rental opportunities.

“While the office sector is sluggish with low demand, we are finding retail take-up has been good in Melton Mowbray for smaller vacant unit sizes - not just for retail but for alternative commercial operator uses.

“With some larger retail units coming available in the first quarter of this year (2022), it remains to be seen whether this positive trend continues.”

Shouler & Son’s comments on the market are broadly in line with those of its commercial property peers in the East Midlands who are quoted in the latest RICS survey.
